This is the question I get asked most often. Why Columbus? Well the answer is simple. Columbus is a great investment market! And remember, we are investors. The hot markets you hear most about in Los Angeles, New York, Florida and the like are more about speculation. It's fast money - you can make lots and equally lose lots. You are subject to the ups and downs of the market. Look at what happened to home prices in those areas during the recession.

Columbus doesn't have the  crazy ups and downs of those overheated markets -it's is a solid investment opportunity and we are confident of the local fundamentals which is why we invest there for the long term.

WHAT ARE THE KEY BENEFITS OF THE COLUMBUS ECONOMY?

Columbus also has a very strong job market. The unemployment rate in Columbus is under 4% which leads to high demand for skills and brings people in from all over the country.

 

Columbus sets itself apart from many large cities because it has chosen to find way to insulate itself from significant market risks. The population has been growing rapidly and unemployment is extremely low.

Due to great foresight by business and government, Columbus boasts one of the most diverse economies in the country. The largest employment sector does not make up more than 18% of the total economy. This means that even if one industry has challenges, it doesn't affect the economy disproportionately.

Columbus boasts approximately 100,000 college students across a range of schools. The Ohio State University is one of the largest in the nation with world class education which draws students in nationally and internationally.

Columbus also has one of the lowest cost of living expenses of any large city. This draws people in because if the economy is strong and job growth is high, population will naturally increase. Columbus has a rapidly growing population which leads to increased demand for housing and services. It's a great place to live!

HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES

We primary focus on investing in low to middle income housing. Most of the properties our investors buy are in the $40,000 - $60,000 range for single family homes and duplexes and approx $120,000 - $150,000 for fourplex properties. We find that these price ranges maximize the return to purchase price ratio in our market.

You need to know what to buy and where to buy - not everything is a bargain, even if it's cheap. But, done the right way you can get an exciting return on a relatively small investment.
